Greetings and Rules-overlay
Welcome to Endless Travels, a forum created for the study and creation of interactive story-games or role plays. Feel free to use this
forum as a restful reprieve from your travels and allow it to become a starting point for many more. On this forum I'd ask everyone to keep an
open mind. Let new ideas wash over you and if they cannot infuse you with new thoughts and sensations, then at least allow them to
strengthen your own beliefs. I ask everyone act respectfully towards their neighbors and fellow players, even if there is a problem between two
ideals. Here is how we can uphold these standards:
Section 1: General Forum Conduct
1.) Be respectful and considerate to your fellow members: allow them to get off their part of an argument before dismissing the issue and
avoid degeneration into flame wars or shouting arguments. A thread will be given a lot of leeway but if a thread has become nothing more than a
shouting match where no new information is input into the argument then please take this to private messaging or skype, a warning will be issued.
If the argument continues despite the warning, the thread will be closed.
1a.) No trolling Trolling is the act of deliberately annoying someone to the point of making them angry, or starting an unnecessary
flame war. A warning will follow and if you continue to perform provoking actions and/or insults a ban can be expected.
1b.) No Flaming: Intelligent public debate is welcomed, however the moment your post contains insults or personal attacks, you are in
violation of this rule and your post will be removed immediately. A warning will follow and if you continue to perform provoking actions and/or
insults a ban can be expected.
1c.)No Harrasment Harassment in any form is taken seriously. Do not do it; Attacking, badgering, and repeatedly disturbing members is
not only rude, but not allowed. Threatening members results in an instant ban.
2.) Staff members have the final say : You may send a PM to a moderator or Administrator if you feel yourself wronged, but in the end the
staff has the final say and we expect you to accept that judgement.
3.) No Spamming: Posts without relevance to the subject; Posts without adding to the subject; Posts that contain no information
what-so-ever. These three are all forums of spamming. Although some would like to debate what if a post is relevant or if it adds to the subject
most are able to determine if their posts are worthwhile. If you cannot a moderator will help you by deleting your message.
4.) Minimal Rule Lawyering Users who warn other users if they are breaking the rules are appreciated, but please don't do more than give a
small and benevolent warning. If a user refuses to follow the rules in this thread please notify a moderator or Administrator and allow them to
handle the situation. If you are caught trying to enforce the rules through means, other than a benevolent warning, you will receive a warning
from one of the staff. Continued offense can result in a ban.
5.) Mild Obscenity: This forum does not ban obscenity out-right but anything over the occasional swear is frowned upon. Let's try to keep
these forums clean and healthy, every now and again a swear might be appropriate for a game or as an expression. It is expected forum goer's will
use this rule with maturity. If a staff member finds out a forum user has swore at another member with intent to belittle or harm them, despite
the recipients reaction, this will result in at least a temporary suspension of all forum activities. Mild Obscenity is a privilege and you are
expected to treat it as such.
5a.)Unacceptable Obscenity:- The following is never to be used -
a.) No racist, bigoted, excessively vulgar, or distasteful language.
b.) No cybering on any portion of the site, this includes non-public areas.
c.) No pornography, in any of its forms, at all.
6.) No Double Posting Double posting is strictly prohibited, unless a character limit is implemented and you run out of space to insert
your full post. In this case be wary of: General Forum Conduct, rule 3: spamming is prohibited. Otherwise avoid posting twice in a row, in the
same topic. Double posting will result in removal of the second post, continued offense will result in a warning and possibly suspension from
forum activity.
7.) Inappropriate usernames are prohibited: Usernames can not be offensive, derogatory, or vulgar. If you register with a distasteful
username, you will be asked to change it. If you refuse, a staff member will change it for you. Repeat offenders will be banned.
8.) Outgoing Links: Staff members will not be able to monitor every link on the forum at all times, members are expected to adhere to
appropriate links. Any links created for cybering or direction to pornography sites will result in a ban. Links to personal webpages or other
sites is accepted if they do not break the cybering/pornography rule.
Section 2: Role playing Rules and Guidelines
9.) No God modding: There is never a reason to be infallible, invincible, omnipotent and/or unending charismatic. Role Playing is a
chance to improve our understanding of stories and even 'life' if we let it. Having everything you ever want isn't fun for anyone, including
yourself. Avoid being a god, unless the game calls for gods.
10.) Overpowering Characters is to be Avoided: Having characters that are slightly stronger or slightly faster than other characters is
fine. Having characters that can take on a whole army doesn't make any-sense. The level of 'power' a character has depends on the game,
and the GM in charge, but if a character can beat another character (non player character or otherwise) every time, no matter the arena or
circumstances, your character needs to be de-powered. Avoid overpowering your characters.
11.) No Powerplaying: - “Powerplaying” refers to when a role-player takes control of another person's character that is not their own. The
only characters players are allowed to play as, talk as, and control are their own. There are a few exceptions to powerplaying is if two members
mutually agree that a character may be controlled. Another circumstance, that should be used only rarely, is when a character is in-active or
other extreme circumstance. In these situations a GM may take minimal control over a character, with best interests to the character. A GM should
use this tool only as a last resort, abuse of this rule will lead to deletion of post and a warning.
12.) Out of Character must be placed in Out of Character areas: Out of character, or OOC for short, has a specific area for posting. When
playing a game, and the desire or need for a forum member to make a comment or question that a character wouldn't make in game, then OOC must be
placed in a game appropriate area. Game Moderators are expected to provide OOCs for their players.
13.) Minimum Game Post: The minimum post for any role-play must be at least two sentences and fifteen words long, any-less is not
considered a post and a staff member will remove it. This minimum post does not stand for OOC posts (Which MUST be posted in the OOC sub-thread.)
