The mysterious and exotic floating city of L'Anza, majestically spanning the Golden Isles on the shores of the Xiku Sea, was founded by a powerful warrior of the Brotherhood of Panthers called Tyrone Maximus. His skill with the hook-and-chain was unmatched; his entire body was covered in the tribal markings of his people, and his teeth were set with gold and diamonds as a testament to his wealth. His palace was filled with treasures and concubines, slaves and fierce animals from swamp and jungle, and all bowed to his unbending will. Warriors, chiefs, bandits and pirates alike paid tribute to him, and the Golden Isles prospered from trade with faraway lands. Peoples and creatures of many tribes and languages filled its streets and canals, and the dancers and bards of that land became legendary even as far as Thalassana by the shores of the Great Sea.
Then everything changed when the Hellgate opened.
The Wraithlords claimed to be the descendents of the Ancients, "true heirs" to the sorceries and magical powers of L'Anza of old, before the Walls of the Sea crumbled at the end of the Golden Age. They believed that all others who dwelt upon the land were Tainted with the ancient Plague, and that it was their duty to purge the surface of such taint, that the line of the Ancients may be restored to its original purity. To that end, they called forth legions of Unseelie, black demons of the abyss, to do their bidding. Writhing and shapeshifing, these eldritch creatures consume all in their path, giving birth to ever increasing numbers. Neither sharpened steel nor walls of stone can stop them, but only fire - and the enchanted weapons of the Dwarves and the Wizards, of Mithril and Cold Iron.
Now, bards from D'Anza roam far and wide, telling the tale of the Fey Wars to all who will listen.
